Pregnancy portraits, or maternity photography has become quite popular in recent years.
Women have realised how much this life-changing physical and emotional transformation is unique in their life.
And then want to capture their condition for a very long time, to be able to bring back this time, in some way, even when the baby will be born.
‘Being a woman and mother myself’ says Francesca, our photographer, ‘I’m incredibly passionate about pregnancy photos and feel quite strongly that each pregnant woman exudes a special beauty, glow and grace that is something I’m honored to capture’.
It will be absolutely up to you how you would like to be portrayed – nude, partly clothed, fully clothed. We can only suggest the best poses to suit your shape.
Natural, window, light is primarily used to show the contours of the body shape in a natural, innocent way.
Shoots can take up to 2 hours and can involve changes of clothing and props.
When are the best times to take maternity photos?
Depending on the kind of package you are going to choose, the best timing to do the photo shootings are:
COUNTDOWN – framed at 5 or 6 sessions, the aim is to record the pregnancy stages from week 20th appx. to baby birth, and composing a montage of your bump growth and then birth.
SOLO – single shooting to capture all the beauty of the bump at the later stage possible (36th weeks appx.).
BUMP TO BABY – a 2-session shooting Before and After the birth of your baby to see how the focus changes on who.
To avoid disappointment and to have to rush for your appointment, we suggest you to book your session well in advance, particularly if you are interested in a weekend session as this are very popular and your baby photographer Derby can be already booked with weddings.
Who else can participate in the maternity portraits?
For the “Countdown” you will be the only subject present at the shooting.
For the “Bump to Baby”, in the first part you will be the only subject to be framed, but in the second part your baby will join in.
For the “Solo” package you can decide to bring into the shooting whoever you like: your husband/partner, to make the shooting more caring and engaging, or a sibling, for a cute and funny play time together, or all the family. It’s entirely up to you.
And so it’s up to you the level of nudity your are keen to have to give the portrait as much “close to mother-nature” effect as you wish.
